What make a super intern

This article is dedicated to my super intern, who I am trying to seduce into accepting a full time offer to work with me at Obai and Hill.

It is summer now, and graduates and high school students alike are arranging their summer trips to Europe and the US, and many are sending off their CVs to companies they want to get experience with.

My super intern and me met ages ago in Easter when she emailed me about an internship. Straight off she was relaxed, confident, and spoke articulately about what I did, what she liked and disliked. She was honest and did her homework.

Come summer nada joined me and my team at our office in Bahrain, a day after she landed from the UK.

Nada has been exceeding my expectations and we soon came to trust her with more responsibility and has earned the nickname of ‘super intern.’ Over her time with us I have come to compile a mental list of what she has done differently than other interns who have joined our team as as a checklist for all who are about to embark on an internship or thinking of appliying for one in the future

  1. Be on time
  2. Do your homework
  3. Add value- have an opinion
  4. Do the extra work
  5. Ask for more responsibility
  6. Do what you have to do, not what you want to do
  7. It is not about you, it is about the work and getting it down
  8. Work like an employee not an intern
  9. Ask questions in the right time
  10. Under promise over deliver
  11. Multi-task
  12. Don’t Bring goodies
